                         ROCKET MAN !!!

A rocket just leaving the launch

pad from the Tarmac model aircraft  field

at Toowoomba.

The rocket shown is one of the

largest to be launched by the group.

It has a G motor providing 80 newtons

force.

Smaller rockets with D motors (20N)

and C motors (10N) are also used.

All ages of people are involved in this

fascinating aspect of Aero modeling.

Rockets return to earth under a

parachute and make for a very

colorful sight.

At the left of the picture a flying saucer

can be seen waiting to launch from the

launch pad. This craft also flies to about 20

meters, tumbling back to the ground and

landing on wire legs.

Zac started RC flying on his 9th birthday with an electric park flyer. A few weeks later he was flying a GWS Piper Cub and 2 months later he (and Dad Roy) started lessons on glow planes at Tingalpa Model Aero Club (TMAC) with instructor Noel Wilson.

Zac now at the age of 10 years and 13 months later in the hobby has attained his Bronze and Gold wings and competed in one pattern competition and two IMAC competitions. Zac still enjoys park flying as it's stress free, heaps of fun and allows him to "stretch out" his flying ideas.
His favourite planes include electric aerobats and 3D foamies and glow planes such as the Hanger 9 90 size Spitfire, but his pride and joy is his Excelleron 50 pattern plane with an OS81 Alpha. Zac has just been certified to fly a DA50cc 29% Sukhoi SU-26 and will be competing with that at the next IMAC competition at Coolum in May.

Zac looks up to many RC pilots, but his favourites are Chris Brislin, Chris Graham, and from the USA Jason Schulman (who he met at the DA Challenge last year)

Zac hopes to perform a freestyle show one day like Chris Brislin but knows he needs to practice a lot more.

Recently Zac won best young ace at the PRAMS S&B electric flying day and winning the limbo competition with his S&B Komet.

A recent photo at the Imac competition held at Tin Can Bay of Zac Syntageros with Aaron Garle on the right.

Below is a photo of Aaron Garle with his 1st plane.

Aaron is 14 years old and has been flying model planes since he was 3-4 years old, he would accompany his father David out to the flying field every weekend. He turned solo at the age of 5 , bronze wings at the age of 7 and gold wings at the age of 12.

His 1st plane was a PC 9 Roulette which Santa brought for him one Christmas.

Aaron has a collection of planes which include a 106 inch A5M2 Claude (Japanese warbird), and a 2.7m Wild Hare Extra 330LX.

Aaron's favourite plane to fly is his large Extra, he has just started working after school 2 nights a week and his saving up to buy a C-ARF Yak.

He has been a member of the Southern Cross Warbirds for a number of years and just recently joined the ASAA. and already competing in 2 competitions coming 1st and 2nd in the basic class having brilliant mentors such as Norm & Chris Brislin, Mick Dakers and Steve Richardson, to name a few.

Over Easter he will be traveling down to Bendigo where he is competing in the Bendigo Masters.

Aaron's aspirations for the future are to be up with the best flyers in the world along side Chris Brislin and definitely competing in Tucson within the next 3-4 years.

When Aaron finishes school he's hoping to score an apprenticeship with Boeing as he wants to be an Airframe Mechanic.

Aaron flys at CRAMS which is situated in Calvert ( West of Ipswich ), previously flying at  LARCS for  a few years.
